First, you should do all you can to check compatibility before installing
Vista.

If you do upgrade, and you have original Windows XP media, you will be able
to reinstall XP by formatting your OS partition (wiping out Vista) and then
installing XP. You will probably have to activate XP by phone, and explain
what you did and why. The prohibition you mention applies to using the XP
license you upgraded from on a different PC, while using Vista as well. You
have one license. As long as you are using either XP or Vista (but not both
concurrently) you are OK.

You do not lose your right to revert to Windows XP if you upgrade.

With an OEM or Retail Full you would get a right to run *both*
Vista and XP. With the upgrade you would *not* have the right
to have both installed - it is supposed to be one or the other.
If you reverted the upgrade to XP that should uninstall Vista.

cool so microsoft are responsible for tech support for their own software
then, as i have this issue with wmpnscfg.exe on my pc that causes it to hang
for about ten minuets on start up then makes my system run unbelievably slow
until i end the process via task manager. i know it is media player 11 and
have selected not to share any folders and disabled it in msconfig but it
still remains. i even tried to get rid of media player 11 to media player 10
that worked fine until some dam auto update took over my system to improve
it, but in add remove it fails to uninstall. i roll back to previous ver then
reboot as told to by windows the i try to remove the windows media java
runtime but it states that this is needed for a program (win media 11) i
tried to get some help for this but as i have an oem ver of windows unless i
pay £40 tech support is not avalible to me. so now i have installed microsoft
into my microsoft wouldnt you expect some tech support???????????? !!!!

After reinstalling Windows to remove stuff at least one time too many,
I bought an imaging program to shorten the job's time from several hours
to about a half hour. I gave up thinking I ought not have to buy imaging.
