I have added a new hard drive and loaded XP Home Edition Version 2002
including Service pack 2 on it. I have my old hard drive installed in the
same computer as a slave. Is there a way to move the contents of the entire
old hard drive, with the exception of the OS, to the new XP hard drive so
that I can execute my old software with XP?

Software needs to be reinstalled in order to operate under XP
Work files can be copied over.

You could have cloned your old hd to your new one using Ghost or Acronis
True Image, and then upgraded Win 98 to Win XP Hm. Ed. At this point, you
need to determine how to uninstall WinXP Hm from the new hd: if you have not
activated it yet, surely you can re-format the new hd & install Win 98 in
its place. Then start from the beginning of this paragraph. Hope this
works, s

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you want to do, but you can not run
software under a particular copy of an operating system unless it's been
installed under that particular copy of that operating system.

So, if I understand your question correctly, the answer is no.

No, there isn't. Data files can be copied from one drive to another,
but any software applications will need to be reinstalled from within
WinXP in order to create the hundreds (possibly thousands) of registry
entries and to place the dozens (possibly hundreds) of essential system
files back into the appropriate Windows folders and sub-folders.
