Upgrading from Outlook 2K to 2002

I want to upgrade to 2002 without having to purchase Office 2003. Can
anyone tell me how I go about this? Is it possible to only upgrade OL
without doing the whole office upgrade?

I'm happy with Office 2000 but outlook is not programmed to pick up pop3
mail from MSN. I need to upgrade to 2002.

Thanks

Why should you purchase Office 2003 if you want Outlook 2002? Anyway, you
can buy Outlook 2002 for about $99 online and maybe lower on ebay (I didn't
check). Why can't you use OL 2000 with msn mail?

It's possible to upgrade just Outlook, but why would you want to upgrade
only to Outlook 2002 when you could buy Outlook 2003? You probably won't
even find a copy of Outlook 2002 on store shelves anymore since
Office/Outlook 2003 was released a long time ago.

No matter what, though, if you upgrade only Outlook and not the other Office
programs, you should know that you will lose some functionality between
Outlook and the other programs (if you use these features now). For
example, you will no longer be able to use Word as the e-mail editor, nor
will a mail merge be possible.

Howdy,

I bought (but did not install) a copy of OL2002. It is sold as a
standalone product...

Here is one retailer:

MSN has done away with their POP3 servers and I have an MSN e-mail address
that's important to me. I refuse to use their web servers and either I fork
out money to upgrade or I'm out of luck.
Thanks for the advice. I didn't know I could buy OL as a stand alone
product. It's much better than buying office 03

I found OL03 for about $50.00 as a stand alone product. If I continue using
Office 2000 will upgrading OL mess up anything? What about doing mail merge
with Word? Will I still be able to do that?
Thanks

No. Office automation depends on using the same versions of Outlook and
other Office programs.
