Upgrading from Office XP to Office 2003

Today I tried to receive my mail through Outlook XP but it didn't receive any
messages though there were 12 of them on the server. I checked the code of
the error in MS KB and the reason was that my file outlook.pst reached the
maximum size available in Office XP - 2 Gb.
I asked our technician to upgrade me to Office 2003 - he did it but when I
started Outlook 2003 - the message anounced that my file outlook.pst reached
the maximum size available in Office XP - 2 Gb and that I can exceed it
through creating the file outlook.pst in Outlook 2003!
I thought that the file outlook.pst is just the same - that Outlook 2003
will continue working with it!
The worst thing is that I closed this message and tried to receive my
messages - the dialogue window showed that "All operations completed
successfuly" but nothing appeared in the Inbox folder and anywhere! They
simply VANISHED!
I created one more file outlook1.pst and moved some old messages into a
folder there. Then compressed outlook.pst and now it is 1,5 Gb. When I
recieved the e-mail - there was only 1 message. Everything works well now -
but where ARE those 12 messages?
So I have two questions:
1. Upgrading from Office XP to Office 2003 - obligates me to create another
file outlook.pst and move all my messages to a new file, doesn't it?
2. Where are my 12 messages that Outlook received but "forgot" to put into
the inbox folder?

You need to create a new data file, in OL2003, using 2003 format then copy
mail etc from 'old' pst to this new pst
Avoid the use of import/export it can often cause problems
