i was playing a game with my ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128meg DDR installed . Sims 2 to be
exact. I was looking at the characters and awesome graphics in the game - when suddenly
one level of detail was removed - all that cool super detail just defocused one level,
wasn't blurred - just not as 3D detailed anymore. My other games run to fast to see this
happen. Like this phenominahshit occured at real time - like the sims 2 plays.
I was in Puerto Rico at the time (what that has to do with it - i don't know) anyway the
circuit city there had the x800 12 pipeline x800 and i bought it the next day. whoa
awesome 3D detailed graphics restored and more !
my 3dmark2001se score went up from 16000 (9800) to 25000 (x800) with just my amd 64
2.0ghz.
the caveats and biscuits here are that Far Cry "paradise" mode is not supported. Oh well,
maybe in far cry II there will be the support for the x800.
bottom line - x800 is worth the $$$ for the return on fantastic graphics (imho). I used
to live 9800, now it sits in a drawer. x800 rules.
so how does this apply to you ? the 9800 engine is through. Go with the change of engine
to the x800.

To help me sort out my AMD 64 3200+ bus timing I used CPU-Z and clockgen which also
allows user tweaks to voltage's and Frequencies (multipliers).

YES! I pulled the Nvidia something out of my HP a530n and stuck in the ATI 9800pro (whoa).
8x, fast writes, combining on, sitting on top of a nvidia agp slot. heh
** now the x800 sits on top of the nvidia agp slot.
