I purchased a used laptop that has Windows 2000 on it. I loaded a new copy
of Windows XP (Home Edition) to replace 2000, but it looks like both
opperating systems are on the computer. The memory is limited and I need to
get W2000 off. How do I removed Windows 2000 without messing up my XP
settings?

Reload XP... Boot to the XP cd and chose the option to install a new copy,
delete the existing partition when it comes up to the section on where to
install to (you will lose ALL of your data on the disk, so backup anything
you want). After the partition is deleted, select it as the one to install
XP on and follow through the normal install just as you did before.

If you need more detail, let me know.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping there would be a short cut. Loading
XP all over again will take awhile on this machine (Pentium II / 400mhz). A
dinosaur I know, but good enough for email. Thanks again.
