Upgrading C Drive

I am running low on disk space on my c drive. How can I keep all my
information and installed programs on the new larger drive? Is there a
program out there to do this, like partition magic? I am running Vista Home
and partition magic does not support Vista. Please help I have less that 4 Gb
left. Thanks....:)

Normally when you purchase a hard drive retail it comes with a utility
to clone the old drive to the new drive. If you purchase white box or
don't get the utility, you can download it from the drive mftr.'s
website. You can also use Acronis True Image if you have a second hard
drive available to hold the image. True Image (along with an external
hard drive) is a worthwhile investment since it can do imaging and
incremental backups.

You will also have the problem that Microsoft will have popups saying that
you have pirated your Vista O/S. It then disengages the Vista features and
you have error messages coming out all over the place. Makes you feel like
a crook when all you did was upgrade your system. Alas, all it takes is a
phone call to India and they get you back up again; however, you still have
to reinstall all the stuff they unhooked whilst you were deemed an enemy of
Microsoft.

I'm sorry if you have experienced a problem with activation. We've
imaged quite a few Vista installs and have had no problems with
activation whatsoever. Perhaps you are doing something wrong. Please
note that this is not opening a discussion on activation per se, just
that I stand by my original advice to the OP since I've had no more
difficulties imaging Vista than with any other operating system.

I agree with Malke's comments. I too use Acronis and have imaged drives
quite regularly and never had any activation problems.

One option would be to boot a Linux Live CD and use that to clone it -
several techniques would work.
