Upgrading 9600 Pro?

I want to speed-up my kids PC and was thinking of giving them my current gfx
card (9600 Pro).

I'm happy with my current card (sitting in an Athlon 3000+ box with 800Mb
RAM) and was wondering what if any improvement I could expect if I upgraded
to something better (such as a 9800 Pro).

Is there much difference? Would I notice? Or should I just buy a 9600 Pro
for my kids machine?

You'll get about a 40% increase BUT if it was running your games at say
40FPS in the first place, you'll not notice the difference from a user
POV.

The average 9800 pro cost 130 upwards, where a gd 9600 would cost £70. if
you ask me, which fortunately you are,i would hold on to my money, or spend
10-20 quid more, and dare i say it, get nividia 6600GT agp version of
course) the bang for your buck on this card compared to cards in the same
price region is fantastic. The card can get 100fps in hl2, high
quality!!(depending on ur system spec). If you want to stay loyal to the
reds, then, save your pennys and get a x800xt(£200+) or get a pci-e 16x
motherboard and get a x700, although for the same money and much less hassle
you could have just bought the 6600GT.

bty i personally have a 9600pro and plan on getting a 6600gt, pci-e along
with a athlon 64,when i'm ready for my next system upgrade.

get about 60fps in doom 3 on the highest settings(no filters), which is no
easy feat. Read the review carefully, and you will see that the 6600Gt is a
beast, at this level.

I'd have liked to see those tests with AA. This is where ATI has been
strongest for some time and I wonder if the 6600GT would still lead with
that enabled.

Hmm. This review is actually inconclusive with the 9800 winning as many
benchmarks as it loses. What is the price difference? I can pick up a 9800
Pro for £130 (256 bit).
