Help Please

I recently upgraded from Windows 98 to XP and have had trouble saving
and opening documents from floppy or CD-RW. I can save maybe once or
twice and then when I try to save or open a word document to floppy or
CD-RW I get the following error messages:

The selected floppy disk drive is not in use. Check to make sure a
foppy disk is inserted.

You do not have access to the folder A. See your administrator for
access to this folder.

The disk controller reported an error that is not recognized by the
floppy disk driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a distant observer and one who services a LOT of old machines, I have to advise you that I see a LOT of screwey
problems caused by aging hardware. Recently I have taken the position to not do any serious upgrades to machines over 5
years old. It's not cost effective and simply exposes the user to experience still more age related failures. One and
two year old refurbished machines can be had at amazing prices.
