Upgraded 2000 to xp pro - no internet access now

Upgraded 2000 machine to XP pro. Router is giving
computer an ip address. firewall turned off on machine.

Unable to browse network or access internet.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

What firewall is turned off?
The XP ICF or some third-party firewall or both?
What IP Address do you get if you run ipconfig /all
from the command prompt window?
What happens if you then immediately run ipconfig /renew?
Have you tried connecting to the Internet without the router
involved just as a test?
