Upgrade

I have upgraded up system from Windows ME to Windows XP
and have relised that I have know word package just some
silly notepad, what happened? does that mean I have to buy
Word 7?

You don't say if you had Word before you upgraded. MS Word is not part of
XP. It is a seperate package. The only wordprocessor in XP is Wordpad. Okay
for simple things like letters and so on.

Right under the 'notepad' you should have 'wordpad'
similar to Word.

You had a computer that came with third-party software preinstalled by
the mftr. (Compaq, HP, Gateway, etc.) Microsoft operating systems do
not come with a word processor or an office suite. You'll have to buy
one, or you can download a free office suite at www.openoffice.org.
