upgrade

I'm thinking about upgrading my processor to an intel pentium, i heard i may
have to change my motherboard aswell is this true ?
 
If youre not running intel now,youre defiently going to need a new board,+
reinstalling xp.Intel and AMD are not compatable....

Hi, to answer this question, we need some more details about your
current machine. At a very teast, the motherboard model.


And the intended replacement processor. I presume you don't mean
pentium 1, but....

Just buy the new processor, install it, and everything will be fine.

That depends entirely on what motherboard you now have.

Interestingly, in response to such a vague question from
the OP, Andrew's response was essentially correct although
it might not have been relevant, depending on whether the
OP's original CPU is or is not an AMD.
 
the only style motherboards that i can think of that will take both AMD and
Intel are the socket 7 and older boards, besides, who said it was an AMD in
the first place, it might be a cyrix, or something else... either way, the
motherboard needs replacement or just buy/build a new box... im still trying
to figure out how this post relates to windows xp
