upgrade to vista

i have a dell inspirone1505 with windows xp on it.. it is vista capable and
when i attemp to install vista it loads and then i get a boot configuration
error and the installation quits..
can anyone help me figure this out so that i can upgrade to vista and
install it on my pc????

Are you using an Upgrade or a Full Vista DVD?
And HOW are yoyu trying to install it?
Vista Capable and Vista Ready are 2 completely different things.

If it is branded vista capable, you have problems, as that model was only
released to run the Basic version of Vista; no Aero, etc.
