I got rederected from the Dutch HP site to Microsoft upgradeweb.
I tried to order my copy of Windows Vista but i could not do this because of
the following problems:

1. The Netherlands are not listed in the Country list.
2. My computermodel (HP Pavilion Slimline s7630) is Windows Vista Premium
Ready but not listed in the Models list.

Site problem????

I do not agree on that, the Upgradeweb is hosted by Microsoft.
So i do not excatly see what HP has to do with it.
I really think it's a MS problem.

In any case if you need/want official support from Microsoft,
this is not the place to get it. These news groups are peer
support news groups and not the place to come to get official
support from Microsoft.

Hi kingpin1966,

1) Vista is not available yet to the retail market, only the business
version is public, so you cannot order it yet. Try after January 30 when the
retail release is out.

2) It will be up to HP to supply Microsoft with a list of compatible,
qualifying pc's when Vista does become available. If there are still issues
then, it will be up to HP to rectify them.

3) Countries will be added to the list as the proper language version(s)
becomes available and the proper legal distribution channels have been
established in that country, this may not be the same time as the general
public release.

Have you paid any money directly to Microsoft? Probably not.

You entered into a contract with HP by exchanging money for a product with a
promised upgrade. Microsoft, on the other hand, entered into a contract
with HP to provide HP's customers an upgrade to Vista because HP paid
Microsoft money for an OEM license of XP that included a free or low-cost
upgrade to Vista. HP, as part of their agreement with Microsoft, agreed to
support the software they sold you. Just because Microsoft is hosting the
website as a benefit for its customer, HP, it does not mean Microsoft is
obligated to you; Microsoft is obligated to HP and HP is obligated to you.

If I go into Wal-Mart and buy an item in a box that says DVD player and I
get it home and it's a VHS cassette player, I am not obligated to return
that to the manufacturer; I am taking it back to Wal-Mart.

Just because HP wants to redirect you to Microsoft doesn't mean they're not
responsible. Like Richard said, I suggest calling HP. I do not suggest
doing it online since you've already described that that does not work.

Dale

It is hosted by Microsoft but after you determine what edition to upgrade to
you are directed to a page listing the Microsoft Partners that are
participating. You then make your purchase from one of those vendors.

Somewhat confused by the post and replies. HP site for "applying" for Vista
"free" upgrade is redirected to "Moduslink" via "upgradeweb".

I've found that out already, at this moment the Express Upgrade website is
accepting upgrade orders for only HP systems purchased by US, Canadian, Asian
and Pacific region HP customers.
Customers in other country's have to wait a little longer and are advised to
check the Express Upgrade website at a regular basis to see if new country's
are added.

So a little patience is advised here.

So there rests me no more then to whish everyone a very Merry Christmas and
seasons Greetings.

I'm just glad I didn't order the upgradeable version of MCE 2005 when I
built my daughter's computer for Christmas. I'd have been pretty upset,
like others, after finding out that Microsoft was making the upgradeable
versions available through channels other than Dell/HP and then not allowing
customers of small system builders to use the coupon.
