I recently built a new computer and installed XP as the
OS. My problem is I couldn't get my old hard drive with
my windows 98 to be accepted as a slave drive? Why? I
think I set the pins as directed. Is there any way to get
the info. off that drive? Is there a way to direct
connect it to do that?

My recommendation is to temporarily connect your second
drive to your secondary chain (most likely where your CDROM
(s) is(are) located. This means you will have your new
hard drive with Windows XP on your primary chain (it
should be the ONLY drive), and your second drive on your
secondary chain (it should also be the ONLY drive).

Then copy your data and reconnect everything the way it
was.

Good luck!
