Upgrade LS-20 to LS-2000

It was mentioned here some time ago that the Nikon LS-30 and LS-2000 are
hardware identical but with different firmware, and that an LS-30 could
be "converted" to be an LS-2000 by burning LS-2000 firmware into it.

Does anyone have the procedure, or a link to the procedure, for doing
this? The firmware installer would need to be "patched" not to check
that the scanner was an LS-2000 instead of an LS-30.

Almost. It needs to be patched to look for the other model.

All I can say. Lost my notes on this, years ago.

I know that, but there are references to the model type in hundreds of
places in the firmware updater, and without some guidance as to what to
patch, it's unlikely to be able to happen.

Hundreds of places? About half a dozen in fact.

I went through the file .... it's many dozens if not over a hundred.
Note, I'm not saying that all of these matter, and some of them may be
inside the firmware being downloaded rather than in the downloader (and
those you would not want to change). It may well be that in terms of
what you have to change, it's ONE location. But the problem is knowing
WHICH location.
