Going from Win 2000 Pro(full version) to Win XP Pro w/SP1(full version).
Microsoft site say's it a valid upgrade.
Error message during setup:
"Windows XP Setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional to Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
Setup cannot continue."

Now,I've done these upgrades before but not with the integrated SP1.
The corporate full edition offer's to upgrade ,but I want my own S/N not
their's -and ,no ,the product key for XP w/sp1 dosn't work for the corporate
edition..
Any ideas ,work around's ???

Apparently, you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"retail versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a "retail version" of Windows XP
or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".

It sounds like you've tried to save a few bucks by purchasing an
OEM version of WinXP. An OEM CD cannot be used to perform an upgrade
of an earlier OS, as it was designed to be installed _only_ upon an
empty hard drive or partition.

You have bought one of the 'OEM' CDs (probably marked 'for supply only
with a new computer' or similar) - they will only do a clean install,
not an upgrade

No, wasn't trying to "save a few buck's" ,was all the local dealer had.
And thank's for the info on the OEM edition.
So, will the Win XP "upgrade" version work or not ??
Going from Win2000 Pro -full version-OEM also.
