Upgrade from XP to Vista error

While upgrading to Vista, I received this error msg after about 2% of
installation :" Windows cannot copy files required for installation. Make
sure all files required for installation are available, then restart the
installation. Error code : 0x80070001".

Can anyone help me on this? Is it the DVD problem??

Hi,

Could be....

- Dirty/smudged install disk
- Dust covered DVD lens
- Clogged %temp% folder

Try:

- Wipe the disk clean with a lint free cloth
- Run a CD/DVD lens cleaner disk on the drive
- Delete the contents of C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp (just type
%temp% into the start/search prompt to open to this folder, then edit/select
all/file/delete, do not be concerned if some files don't get removed as they
are likely to be in use).
