Upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business via download?

I have an Upgrade Redemption Form for upgrading from Windows XP Professional
to Windows Vista Business for free. I'm wondering if there is any way to
download the upgrade DVD via the Internet, instead of receiving it via mail.
I have checked the http://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/vista link but it doesn't
say anything about this. The upgrade is free so I don't see why I shouldn't
download it instead of waiting 6-8 weeks for receiving the package, plus
paying the shipping costs. Thank you.

No, there is no download available. You'll have to wait for the mail to
arrive.

I've been asking a similar question since I bought my new laptop. Can't I
just download Vista and burn the DVD? It is silly to pay nearly €100 to get
the upgrade DVD mailed to me. That's nearly half the price of the boxed
version if I'm not wrong.

There is no download from moduslink. The image is not the same as the
retail images anyway.

So its not quite a "free" upgrade then isn't it? Just the shipping charges
are nearly €70. I think its unfair. I bought the laptop under the impression
that I wouldn't have to pay a cent to upgrade it. Now I just feel cheated.
Thanks MS.

As I recall, even the Microsoft Express Upgrade webpage says that there may
be collateral expenses.

Colin:
I have the same upgrade coupon but I'm in the USA. Upgrade disk
$0.00, Shipping and handling $11.49, Tax & Duties $.69 and Total $12.18. The
tax is 6% sales tax in Michigan. This is close to the same as I paid with
TAP for XP x64. I remember when x64 was released that the TAP cost for
European countries was a lot higher because of Duties and VAT. I'm wondering
if the high cost for the upgrade is due to Duties and VAT? Have a great day.

I am certain of it. He gives his cost in Euros.

I still believe MS should allow people to download the upgrade DVD image. Its
fine for you guys in the States since the upgrade cost is so low and the
delivery time is probably less as well. I was told I need to wait at least 6
to 8 weeks. I could download DVD in much less time than that. Mr Gates
recently talked about IPTV and broadband internet. Thats going to use up alot
of bandwidth. Why not dedicate some bandwidth for people to download Vista?
It'll make the adoption faster too.

I don't know much about tax structures, and when I bought my laptop, no one
explained to me that I was going to be taxed for something MS owes me (since
Vista was supposed to be out last year, hence the "free" upgrade). Only the
word "free" was being propagated. "Free" to the everyday user/buyer like me,
means without cost. I feel quite cheated right now. I'd really rather not pay
for the upgrade DVD to be sent to me.

I'm not trying to villify anyone here. I'm just requesting for Vista to be
up for download along side the current shipping option.
