Upgrade from Windows 2000 Active Directory to Windows 2003 AD

I will upgrade the windows 2000 AD to Windows 2003 AD, my DC is child domain
and the forest Domain is already in Windows 2003 AD, I would like to know if
there is any precedure I should follow to perform the upgrade.

the Forest domain is not in here but we have network connectivity to them,
we only manage the child domain here.

Can any one please help me for this?

The forest-wide schema changes have already been made. So you only need to
run adprep /domainprep prior to doing this. You will need the appropriate
permissions of course ;-)
