On my Toshiba laptop I have Windows XP Home fatory
installed. At work we use Windows 2000 server on a
domain. I know I cannot logon a domain with Win XP Home.
Toshiba customer support tell me I need to buy an upgrade
version of Win XP Pro at a regular store.

Is it true? There is no other way to use Home with a
domain server? There is no other way to switch from Home
to Pro version?

Thanks

Serge

Do you know if I buy the regular Windows XP Pro Upgrade
package, my Home version will accept it ???

Greetings --

Certainly.

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things
can go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.

The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, should go
smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.
