Upgrade Error Message

I'm trying to upgrade to Windows XP from Windows 98 and I
keep getting an error message "488FF58h setup cannot
continue: and "setup cannot copy M:\1386\mfc42.dll to
C:\WINDOWS\setup\mfc42.dll". What can I do? Thanks.
