We bought our mother a new computer with XP Home. She has a dial up
connection (all she wants) so updates take quite a while. She also
does not want to deal with the updates.

Is it possible to download updates for XP Home to a CDROM, send her the
CDROM, and have her run it to update her XP Home.

Thanks.

You can order the full service pack 2 on cd
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Once you have that your mum can then download individual updates as and when
required.

We'll assume mom's new computer already has SP2 installed.

Here are a couple of ways to do what you want to do...

Each month, access http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx to
link to the latest MS Security Bulletin and download to a CD whatever
critical updates you deem necessary.

Access the MS Windows Update Catalog at
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp and download
desired updates to a CD.

Also, take a look at
