Updating WD and Getting Error Code: 0x80070005

Hi group,

I noticed this morning that my WD's latest definition file was from March
17, Definition Version: 1.29.7831.0 created on 3/17/2008 at 6:27 PM..

I manually tried updating WD by checking Update Now and received
notification that the installation failed, Error Code: 0x80070005

I've checked the Installation log and see that I've been having this problem
for that past few days.

This is the message I see in the \windowsupdate.log: FATAL: Failed to copy
file from
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\e605e64c0fc617c0c328f070bc9a3b8a544e8339
to C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\Install\mpas-d.exe (hr =
80070005) after 5 retries.

Is there anything special that I should be checking for?

Hi all,

Never mind (in my best Emily Litella voice.)

Before I posted, I should have done the very first thing that I used to tell
callers, when I worked for Microsoft Product Support Services back in the
mid-90s.

I rebooted, then tried the installation and all is now fine.

Oops. :>

Glad that worked--'cause I've no idea what to suggest except clearing that
\install subdirectory by hand...
