updating software

I have Window 98 and am trying to load Windows XP Home
Edition and the message I receive is d:setup.exe file is
corrupt reinstall file and try again. I do not know how to
reinstall that file. Any help?
 
XP will not load in the same way that Win 98 did.. set your pc to boot from
the CD, and then follow the instructions that came supplied with your XP
Home CD..
