Updating records

Hi I have a select query which is used to pass data to word for a mailmerge.
There are 6 of these - one for each word document
At the end of the merge, the user indicates that the printing is Ok - I then
need to update the records contained within the relevant select query.

I know that I could create an update query for each of the select select
queries, but wondered if there was a more elegant way?
