Updating Records after a Search - Need Assistance!!

Have a db with 3 given fields. Have created a form from a query to search by
any one of the fields.

If one of the fields are updated/corrected/edited upon the search, it is
creating a new record with the CORRECT information. It also retains the old
INCORRECT record.

Is there a way to overwrite (lack of better term) with correct info and only
retain 1 record?

What si the code you are using for the AfterUpdate for search fields. Can
you post it

We are not using a AfterUpdate on the fields. Could this be our error?
