Hello All,

With the released Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-030 (Security Update for
Microsoft DirectX), I have been thinking updating our 9x machines to DirectX
9.0b . However I am wondering if that will break video card drivers on our
9x machine, or create other incompatibility issues with other apps.

I would like to find out if other Sys Admins are updating to DirectX 9.0b?
If so, what issues did they run into?

We have a large number of 9x machines, and I dont want to break them or the
applications they run, by installation a newer version of DirectX

Thanks.

In Peace,
Saqib Ali

Fabio,
Thnx for the reply. I thought the only way to patch 9x machines was to
upgrade to DirectX 9.0b

Here is what the bulletin says:
--------------
Note: Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows Millennium Edition users who are
running a version of DirectX earlier than DirectX 9.0a must upgrade to
DirectX 9.0b.

You don't necessarily have to update to DX 9.0 b. You can also apply a
Hotfix for the Problem which is available for download. This Hotfix is also
uninstallable if there should occur problems. More Information here:

I have been unable to automate the installation of DirectX 9.0b onto our
network machines from our server. The .exe I found to do this accepts no
commandline switches (and I can't trust our users to go through the wizard
process).

Anyone got any tips or pointers for an automated installation?

tia,

you might as well only install the Patch so you don't have to update to DX
9.0 b
