DirectX 9.0b Patch Problems

Per MS Security Bulletin MS03-030 I installed DirectX
9.0b patch to Win XP Home today, which also updated
DirectX 8.1 to 9.0. Now every time I log on the startup
is trying to execute DXDLLREG.EXE, only what is happening
is that Quick View Plus opens up after the Desktop loads
pointing to that file. What is DXDLLREG.EXE??? Why is
it triggering Quick View Plus to open. MS says DirectX
9.0b cannot be uninstalled! Help!!

I tried that, and, of course, after restarting msconfig
demands to know why it shouldn't start everything, and it
is not evident yet what else is not working without
DXDLLREG running. To permanently disable DXDLLREG.EXE
from starting it really should be done through
services.msc. (Msconfig is really just a diagnostic
tool.) Question is, though, what is DXDLLREG.EXE trying
to do?

Have a look here for DirectX removal tools:

Be sure to read documentation.

Good luck,

This is a known problem with QVP; it's even in their faq, which says
something about DirectX being an unknown file type that QVP cannot
recognize.

Solution: Start QVP, go to "Configure," remove the check marks in
Applications". Close QVP, restart computer. Restart QVP, reconfigure
the applications.

Thanks very much, John, your solution worked! I also
went back to the Avanastar website and checked their FAQ
and sure enough the problem is discussed there as you
said.
