updating definition

Brant

Hi, recently seems the defintion update in my PC is not
working properly.

Every time, I choose the "Check for updates" from the
menu, it always reports that there is new definition and
the update always completes successfully.

But interesing enough, the definition is always 5733. It
is always displaying "Updating definitions version 5727
to version 5733".

Anyone encounter similar problem? Share me some tips for
solving it?

Thanks in advance.

There are many posts on this and the solution has also
been posted many times (I know the search function does
not work, but cursory browsing through this forum would
have allowed you to find the answer).
See, for example:
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?

Until a new beta build is released that does not have
this bug, you will need to do this each time there are new
definitions.

Manually download the definitions for Microsoft
Antispyware Beta 1:

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcDeterminationData.gcd
http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd
http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd

Save these files in your MSAS directory overwriting the
older definitions.
