updates

I've just upgraded to XP professional. Each time I
switch on there is a message that says 'updates
available'. I downloaded them today and now have loads
of Windows XP hotfixes with different numbers listed in
my add/remove programmes, can anyone tell me what this
means? and should I continue to download upgrades.

If you installed the hotfixes, they will appear in the installed programs list like other applications you installed. That's where the list is for ... And you should continue to downlaod and install updates - particularly essential security updates.
