Is it possible that using automatic updates to keep XP current would cause the XP machine to run incredibly slow? Has anyone else experienced this?

Having any program accesing the internet will slow your

computer down,how much and will you notice it depends on
your system specs,If you use dialup, Yes you will notice
it no matter what specs you have.In my opinion auto
updates for anything except anti-virus is a bad thing.

The problem is not during the actual update, I have a full T1 so bandwidth
is not an issue. After the updates have been applied to these machines, I
have noticed a significant downgrade in performance.
