I'm trying to set the percent of disk space to use for
offline files. However, no matter what I change the
value to, it is never saved when I check the value later
on.

This is set in MY COMPUTER, then the pull-down menu T)
ools, then F)older Options and then the tab "Offline
Files". There is then a slider bar that you can move to
set the percentage of disk space to allocate for offline
files.

In KB Article Q29027, Microsoft refers to a problem where
user or administrator "Cannot Modify Offline Files
Default Cache Size..." however this KB only applies to
W2K.

I have tried logging in as a local administrator but the
same behavior occurs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

James,

Have you tried setting it through the group policy snap-
in?.

Well here goes, if you do:

Start > Run > gpedit.msc

On the left hand side look at :

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates >
Network > Offline Files.

In there is a setting for "Default Cache Size". Try
setting it and seeing if it retain it from in there.

Hope this helps

Strangely enough, all that does is make the
slider "greyed out" but doesn't change it from it's
default 10%.

Just to confirm, in GPM, I set the value to 5000 (for
50%) and then if I go check the settings in MY COMPUTER,
it still says 10%, but the slider is now greyed out.

Crazy, huh?
