Windows XP Pro updates installed themselves on drive D.
Can I uninstall them in Add/Remove Programs, unplug all
drives but C and download and install them again?

The portion of SP1 that needed to be installed also ended
up on drive D, but when the website checks for updates my
computer needs, it still says this is needed. And after I
installed it, nothing new appeared in Add/Remove Programs.
Can I just delete this and re-download it to C?

Hi,

I have a feeling that you installed the core part of the operating system onto d:\ because that is where the updates goes to. Check where does ur windows folder is installed.

you can check by doing this.
click start menu
click all programs
click accessoires
click system tools
click system information
see the system summary and see what it says for the two lines
windows directory and system directory.
