Updates and svchost problems

Ok..

I'm running Windows XP
I just had to remove the blaster worm from my computer,
which was sucessful.

I have tried to install the Window Update Service Pack,
and also to use Norton Liveupdate to update my virus
definitions. Both programs close on their own in a
matter of seconds.
For the service pack - I open it, go through the license
agreement, and then it says "inspecting current
configuration" and then the window just disappears.

On a side note, my scvhost file is using 40-98% of my cpu
during idle times. I don't know if this is related, or
if it's some other virus, but any help would be greatly
appreciated.

You still hav infection. go 2 any virus software's site &
it'll tell u how to completely clean your machine. i no
cause i'd the same deal for ages!
i also found my norton 2002 too old despite updated
definations to clean properly so i got trends Micro
system. works a treat & includes firewall!
