I installed the latest updates for windows XP, now my XP
machine doesn't see the rest of the network ( a 98SE
machine with printer and a ME machine ) and they don't
see the XP machine either, both 98 & ME see each other. I
am running a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router(wired), Norton
antivirus, Zone Alarm Std, the windows firewall is off.
It was commutating with the other machines before the
update.

I would make sure the NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on
your NIC card on the XP machine. Sometimes after updates,
this gets turned off. You will need this turned on if you
want to effectively communicate with Win9x/ME machines.
It is located in the TCP/IP properties of your NIC card,
by pressing on the Advanced button and going to the WINS
tab.

Can you ping the other machines? If so, my guess is that
NetBIOS over TCP/IP will solve your issues. If not, then
it is probably a firewall issue. You may want to disable
it and see what happens.
