Updated windows, now it wont let me do anything... get same messag

I updated my windows automatically and I installed SP2
when I got done.. I took my laptop back to the room and tried to turn it
on.. and it gave me a message saying

explorer.exe- entry point Not Found

The procedure entry point SHCreateThreadRef could not be located in the
dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.

can someone help me.
I dont have my recovery disk and need to get to the restore point on the
computer but it wont even let me on my desktop..
