updated says win98 on my XP box

I purchased a new computer and trasfered everything to the
new box using a utility.
I noticed that in windows update that the heading for the
updates is Win 98.
I am concerned that the Windows update sees my new XP
machine as a Win98 .
Under add remove pgms there are several " XP hot fixes" is
this the XP equivalent for Windows update?

yes the Windows XP hotfixes are updrates from Windows Update, so it must be
working. Make sure you goto
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp to try and get updates.
