i downloaded foxit from filehippo.com and i unchecked the toolbar and i still
got it so i suggest you go into add/delete and get rid of the toolbar that
way.

Yes, the "Foxit" toolbar is nothing but the dreaded Ask toolbar -
renaming it doesn't change the fact.

I have used ZoneAlarm since version 3.x, but uninstalled it from all my
computers after Checkpoint bundled it with that same toolbar.

Is it actually spyware? The discussions are going on, while more and
more softwares are getting bundled with it. Start looking here

Thank you, Randy. Foxit is already listed at CoU, and updates for Foxit
and other spyware carriers are no longer published at CoU.

Your most welcome, Pat - you might want to contact Donna privately on this.

you must do it as a Custom Install
I mentioned that when I first posted it
if you do not, you will get the crap that comes with it
you have to uncheck the toolbar that is offered and uncheck the ebay stuff
too
if you do it this way you will not get spyware

I put it on 7 computers as a Custom Install only-and unchecked EVERYTHING
that looked suspicious, the toolbar, the ebay stuff
If you do it as a standard install and uncheck it, it will still put it back
on
It only seems to hold when doing a custom install

Thanks Pat. This does put a different complexion on everything. I think I
have no clear reason for not sticking with Foxit, since I haven't actually
been affected by any of these problems - but the seeds of mistrust are sown,
here. Better to know, and decide, than to risk missing that there was a
decision to make.

(This reminds me somewhat of installing the BT software that came with my
broadband package a couple of years ago. There was no actual spyware
involved as far as I know, but during the following few weeks I gradually
uninstalled virtually every component of the stuff the disc had installed by
default. About 99% of it was unnecessary clutter.)
