In case people dont know, Skype is currently offering totally free
calls to any phone number within North America. It's free long
distance in North America until the end of the year.

"All calls from Skype to landlines and mobiles within the US and Canada
are also free till the end of the year. " -skype.com

Rob

only internal within usa?

not to usa from other locations?

Ok I need a translation
within means that you must be in usa and canada and call inside usa or
canada, or
can you call from another country for free as long as you call WITHIN usa or
canada?

I think it the second one since skype is internet based so it doesnt matter
where you call from but
where you are calling.

ignore the stupid question since the answer was on the page you provided

"""
OR if you're in any other country and calling landline or mobile numbers in
the US or Canada, the standard SkypeOut rates apply.""""

Correct. That's why you have to dial the country code even if you're
only calling next door.

Skype is a little program for making free calls over the internet to anyone
else who also has Skype.

For Win98SE users.

Don't bother upgrading from v2.0.0.107, this new version seems to have one
or two visual enhancements, a bit better audio, but seems to crash
(Sykpe locks up) when certain applications are closed and Skype is online
(not necessarily in a call).

Culprits include OpenOffice 2.x, and Pegasus Mail.
