I am modifying a manual that uses a lots of references / hyperlink.

For the manul, it has two tables that the table caption is using the "Insert
Caption" function. In the paragraphs, it refers to the table saying "Table 2
describles ....". When you use "Ctrl + Click", it brings to you to the table
2.

My question is:
There's Table 1 and Table 2, if I want to add a new table in between Table 1
and Table 2. Table 2 will become Table 3 now. How can I update the
reference field in the paragraph that when I use "Ctrl + Click", it brings to
the location of table 3 in the document.

I use right-click and update fields but it does not work.

Thank you.

If you caption tables, they are numbered according to the captions.
To refer to those captions by number you insert a cross references to the
tables. Those cross references will adapt to the new numbering if you insert
another table caption between existing numbers, though REF fields do not
update automatically. Use the update macro used as an example at
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm to update them.
