update query

I need to write an update query that will take a field in
access that is formatted as currency and move the decimal
2 places to the left. When I imported the file the amount
looked like $123,456.00, I need it to look like $1,234.56.

Thanks in Advance

I tried both suggestions, neither worked. It left the
amount the same.

I could leave the amount as double but if the cents has a
zero at the end it is removed ie 123.50 looks like 123.5.

Any thoughts?

Did you execute the query, by clicking on the run button or selecting Query:Run
from the menu?

If you simply clicked on Datasheet view, then the update query is not executed.
Access simply shows you which records it will change if you execute the query.

Other than that I am stuck on why it wouldn't work.

The update query did work when I actually ran the query.
The next problem is I have to export the file as text and
the amount is still missing the zero if it ends with one.

What now? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
