Update program can't make a backup folder

When we run a program update, it wants to make a temp. backup folder under
the main program folder, but says that it cannot do it. It asks if I have
folder creation rights for the main folder. I am on as an administrator.
Where are folder creation rights handled? (Or is it possible the update just
has a bugh?)

"a program update" is pretty sparse in as far as details go..

Mind describing what you are trying to do in a bit more detail?
Can you manually create whatever folder it is trying to create?

We are just trying to download and install an update for some manufacturing
software. After the install starts, we get the message. Yes, I can make a
new folder manually.

Please respond to my reply!

Welcome to the world of a worldwide distributed newsgroups where volunteers
may help you with their own time and knowledge without compensation... In
case you didn't know that was what you were posting on. Therefore
responses/replies can be done in a timely or non-timely manner - dependent
on a volunteers time and knowledge of the subjects at hand.

It sounds to me like your complaint is with said third-party software - not
Windows or your rights to do something since you just said you can create
the folder manually yet the program (update for the third party
manufacturing software) still gives you the message.

In other words - it looks like the programs left hand has no idea what the
programs right hand is doing. Contact the application's support.

That's what I thought and thanks very much for confirming it. I'm a tad new
to XP.
