Update problems

I removed the blaster worm from my machine. I downloaded
the security patch. I have tried numerous times to install it.

Each time I get an error message...Setup could not verify
integrity of update.inf. Make sure cryptographic service
is running. My service is running.

I talked to my local service provider and recieved a CD
with the patch on it. The same error message.

I have searched the knowledge base articles and tried to
solve the corruption in the catroot folder. Nothing seems
to help.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have exactly the same problem as Beth - so I was
delighted to see your reply . I did as you said (no
problem there) - but I still get the same error message ,
so problem unresolved ! I should be very grateful for any
further advice .

Click Start, Run and enter REGSVR32 WINTRUST.DLL

If that doesn't resolve your problem, see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes,
Windows Update - Hotfix KB823980 - Cryptographic Error for a small download
that will re-register a number of system DLL's that can contribute to this
issue.

Thanks , but I've done both , and run your fix , yet I
still get the same error message . Any more ideas will be

If you've run the script and the REGSVR32 WINTRUST.DLL command, then check
