Update of linked files

Dear all,

Does anybody knows how to update linked files, when we are working in the
first one and it needs to get information in the second one, without need to
open the second?

Example, in the first one we have a VLOOKUP funtion and we have the table in
the second file that is closed. When the 2nd file is closed it appears #Value
when we open it it works well.

We are working in Excel2003, in Excel97 it worked...

If you choose to not update the links when you open the file, you'll see an
error. This behavior is different than what you saw in xl97.
