I just upgraded my system to an AMD dual-core cpu, etc., from a P4 system.
I've owned a copy of XP Home for a few years and I've been able to download
and install SP2 from Windows Update. But now, with my new system, Update
never lists SP2. Can anyone help? Thanks

Confused...
What level are you patched at now?

Start button --> RUN --> winver --> OK

Type in the text found starting with "Version 5.1...".

SP-2 may not be listed until certain other updates are installed.
Instead of using Express Installation, use the Network Installation which
will install regardless what updates are not installed.
Download SP-2 and burn to CD or order on CD, Step 1 on this page:

Shenan,
Thanks. I should have been more specific. I did as you requested and
I have SP1 Build 2600. In Update it lists many security patches for SP1, but
never lists SP2.

Jupiter,
I may just download the full version of SP2 even though I'm on
dial-up. Thanks.

SP1 is running fine on my AMD 4600+ Am2 cpu with an ECS KA3 MVP Crossfire
m/b. The only reason I want to try SP2 is that I've read that it supposedly
supports dual-core cpu's better.
