Media Purveyor (MP) is a free image viewer and media player.

Some highlights of the new version:
*Quicktime Support - Quicktime 4 or greater must be installed
*Extended support for Camera RAW files including DNG
*Description (metadata) based file renaming
*Image Editor now features stencils to apply effects using rectangles,
ellipses, stars or rounded rectangles.
*Configurable Tasks Area - Click the Tools icon to setup the tasks
you want to display.
*Display thumbnails as a user definable report.
*Extract single frames from video files - generate thumbnails for movies.
*Count keywords option shows how many of each keyword is
present in search results.

There are certain Win API differences between ME and 98. I will
eventually bring back 98 compatibility but unfortunately that will have
to wait until I've added a few more features that I've been itching to
add.
