update macro recorder in powerpoint

Hello,

I find often the use of the macro recorder extremely useful when starting to
develop some new VBA code.

It seems very wrong to me that the macro recorder in PowerPoint 2003 cannot
cope with the new facilities in this version of PowerPoint, such as the
TimeLine object.

I am now told, via the private PowerPoint News Group, that the PowerPoint
Program Manager has said that there is no intention to update the recorder!

If so this seems very bad practice to me! Here we have a Microsoft product,
PowerPoint, in which it is admitted that one part of it cannot, and never
will, work properly!

This does seem to be a very bad approach.

Can anyone tell me I am wrong?!

Cheers,

Geoff

Good grief! What poor English.

I should have written - "I often find the macro reader extremely useful when
starting to develop new VBA code."

I feel much better now! I will of course feel even better when the Program
Manager tells me that the recorder will be updated soon!

Cheers,

Geoff

It's a shame, but true. On the other hand, given a choice, would you insist on macro
recorder support across the board or would you go ahead with a new feature like the
timeline, whether or not the recorder would support it?

Though I'm not happy that the recorder doesn't support some features I'd like it to, I
certainly wouldn't question the decision to add the features.

Greatest good for greatest number and all that.

But enough of these cheery tidings. If you don't like the macro recorder in 2003,
wait until you see it in 2007. Or to be more accurate, don't see it. It's no longer
there. You'll want to hang onto those old PPT 2003 CDs for a while yet, I figure.

Steve,

After having posted a messager re this in the private feedback NG it
was suggested that I should put my views into what I thought was a
different MS web site for comment / feedback.

Seems to be the same / share info with this group?!
