A

aviramof

i have just installed this update and reseted the computer and all of a
sudden my secondery screen was turned on as if he's the main screen i tried
activating my main screen from the drivers options (catalyst) but with no
luck it seem to be that the driver is no longer recognizing the fact that my
main screen is the main the best i could do was to extend my secondery screen
in order to activate the main any way i did a system restore to the restore
point before installing this update and the problem was solved my screen is
mag xj810 19 inch and my screen card is hd6350 sappire 512MB ati agp so
please fix it and thanks in advance.:)

i have just tried again this time with my secondery screen turned off and my
main screen works now but the windows has started looking for a multimedia
controler
and everyting was fine with that before i instelled this update i have
uninstalled the update and reset again it didn't helped fixing the multimedia
driver problem so i'm going to a second system restore and block this update
from the windows update site until you fix it and thanks again in advance.:)

it seem to be that this update has caused a problem with my old tv card
driver i use and old wintv card and the multimedia controler is part of this
card driver any way i had to clean the driver completely from my computer in
order to install it again and all this due to your update and nothing eles.

Until "you" fix it? You're not talking to Microsoft here. This is a public
newsgroup hosted on Microsoft servers and the helpers are volunteers who
don't work for the company.

Update KB958644 is critical. If the computer is going on the Internet, you
need to reinstall it at once and call Microsoft Windows Update support to
discuss the issues you're seeing. There is no charge for Windows Update
support.

yes and this update is very bugy i don't see no reason to install it for the
time being it destroyed my tv card driver that is 100% because i didn't have
any problem with him for a very long time and caused the ati drivers to
ignore my main screen and use my secondery screen(the older)to as my main
screen really messey buisness was to fix all of that.

You apparently think you are addressing Microsoft when you say
something like that.

You are not. You are using the awful web interface to participate in a
Microsoft newsgroup here. This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup, and any
responses to your message are from volunteers. People here help when
they can, and nobody owes you, or anybody else, anything. With an
occasional exception, none of us are Microsoft employees--not even
those of us with the honorary title of Microsoft MVP. The occasional
exception is a Microsoft employee who will post here unofficially and
on his own time--essentially the same way the rest of us do.

I doubt that the patch did this.

Try rebooting your box. Sometimes on dual screens they just freak out
during reboots.

Because you're so quotable ? <eg>
Actually, replying to the moved post does not include the original one
made to XP Gen. See below. Prolly something to do with a 'web-based' NG
reader.

Thunderbird (and no doubt various other newsreaders) automatically exclude
everything after the signature line from the quoted text. Since PA Bear
top-posts, this means the text from the OP is excluded by default.

If you can find them, the beta version of the 8.11 catalyst drivers
are floating around. Might have to Google for them if you're getting
desperate.

Hi,
I have the same problem here, I have a nvidia 128MB internal video card in my
Dell notebook.

I am using external 24 inch Dell flatscreen, and the same happened to me,
suddenly the screen flickered to black and back to windows, and then it
turned off for about 10 min.

I rebooted my notbook and the same thing happened when I wanted to login.

Personally I think that there is a bug in this KB958644 that is giving me
problem with my flatscreen (the problem isn't there when I using my notbooks
screen).

Have you tried updating your DirectX to the August Redistributable
release? Give it a shot:
