I have been receiving the MS update hoax/ with viruses for
about ten days now. I have not downloaded any
attachments, and have not got the viruses, why does
Norton pick them up when I don't open the attachments? I
have received about 40-50+ total now, and they continue.
I have been told, this is likely coming from someone with
my e-mail in their address book, and I cannot find out
who they are. How long can I expect this to go on?. Will
I have to change my e-mail address?

Randy Molitor's method for use with Outlook Express:

Select Tools>Message Rules>Mail>Mail Rules tab>New button>1: Selet the
conditions for your rule: Check "Where the TO line contains people, 2:
Select the action for your rule: Check "Delete it from server", 3: Rule
description, Left click "contains people", enter your email address at the
blinking cursor, click on Add, click on the Options button, Select "Message
does not contain the people below", click OK, OK, OK, OK. You'r done. Do
this for each account (email address).

I've been getting them nonstop for about 10 days also and I was hoping that
it would be stopping pretty soon. (Dare I say that I THINK they are slowing
down???) Everyone on here tells you what to do to delete the messages from
the server, but that doesn't help us who have mailboxes limited to 10MB or
even 5MB. I've had legitimate mail returned to the sender because my 10MB
limit was reached before I was able to delete the crap from the server and
THAT is what upsets me the most.

Do you have web access to your mail server? If so, have you tried putting
rules in place there to stop the junk from reaching your server in the first
place?

It will go on until people learn to NOT open un-solicitatted E-mail
attachments and getting thier computers infected.
